Folder Window Size-Why Always Maximized?

For some reason -- I have NO CLUE why -- all my folders now open maximized.
Even if I resize them, as soon as I close them, they revert back to being
maximized when I open them? Anybody know how I can "fix" this ... ??? Thanks

Go to your program shortcut (i.e. start, programs, Office, Word) then
right click on the program. Select "properties." You need to be on the
"short cut" tab. You will see an area where you can select how the
program will open (normal window, maximized, minimized). Select
"normal window." Hope this helps.

Hi, Suzette. Thanks for the quick response, and for trying to help me out.

Your suggestion would be spot-on if my problem was related to how
applications open. However, that isn't the issue I'm grappilng with, and I
apologize for not being more explicit about it.

My problem is FOLDER-centric; The window of each FOLDER I open is maximized,
and I am trying to learn how to make that "feature" go away. In other words,
I want to be able to size windows to my liking, and then to have them stay
that way when I close/re-open them -- just like it has always been until
recently.

Try Tools menu > folder options, and go through the options on the View tab.
