Make darn sure you have the latest version of Linux.
Also, I highly recommend you establish a shared data
drive between the 2 OSes so you can recover your
work when Linux crashes. Good luck making the X800
work under Linux. My experience with W98 and Linux
is your safest approach is to install a boot manager, and
use a second hard drive .. a small one for Linux. You
are not going to do anything with Linux .. more than
play around. My approach now is to build a separate
Linux box. I've found that a lowend Gigabyte P4 mobo
with the integrated Intel graphics and lan seems very
Linux friendly. Everything I try works like it is suppose
to, and I simply make the Linux box talk to my Windows
PC on a small network. That is true hacker fun !!!!
I've even made Linux printing shares run on the Win PC.
Integrated sound came right up just fine .. that is a first.
My goal right now is to figure out how to image the
Linux drive so I can restore it quickly. If I could see it
over the lan, I think I could image it to the Win PC and
be able to push the Linux install back ??? Would certainly
beat reinstalling it half a dozen times a year ... like I
have to do now.
