sorry to keep dragging this thread on!

but Im sure iI have solved the problem
without pulling out my credit card!

what I have done is to remove the fan off of the thermaltake heatsink
and place the SPEEZE 80mm fan ontop of it!
my system is v silent and the temperatures of the cpu is 57C to 59C

pc has been on for 2 hours aswell!

so far so good

thank u all for your help and thoughts! :)

How much is the new CPU going to cost?

You know ... you need to offer your "services" with the CIA, FBI or MI5 ... they can do away with all their sensitive listening equipment and just have you sat within a 100yards of any conversation they need to listen into. You'd be good at it too with the hearing you have.

57C to 59C is still way too high for a CPU temp.

And I presume that's only on idle?

You may suffer instability. And just wait til the summer comes.

Get a decent cooler or risk frying CPU or random crashes.

.

way too hot?

i think if it got to 65C then I should be deeply worried!

I have a machine that I turn off prehaps 1.5 days in 365 days!
and the cpu temperature is hitting 53C!

now with regards to the machine hitting 59C I think it may be a little hot but not 'way too high'

prehaps others can add to these thoughts to see what they think......

but I do like your point about the summer time tho!

What I think is ... oh nevermind.

Keep in mind that the onboard measurement facilities are often inaccurate and may report temperatures that are too low. This is especially the case with motherboards that use a thermal sensor below the CPU to "guess" the CPU temperature. The temperature values displayed by the BIOS have usually a correction value added, to compensate for this problem ... but in some cases this correction value may be too low, or the sensor might not be in good contact with the CPU.

Your CPU has a "case temp" that is a core temp of 85C ... In the long term, running the CPU at a temperature that is too high may reduce the CPU life, since an overheated CPU is more prone to electromigration - even if it runs stable.

Lets just leave the subject closed at that ... shall we.
