removing corrupt contact file

trying to sync laptop outlook contacts with pocket pc, via activesync. error
86000108. Verizon tech says this is a problem with contact data on laptop.

ran office diagnotics. no problems found.
found one corrupt contact entry, which i can neither open nor delete.
ran scanpst.exe. entry still corrupt.
found .pst folder, but can't access to delete the single contact file.

how do i eradicate this file?

A contact entry isn't a "file". How are you trying to delete it? If you
select it and then hold down Shift when you delete it, does it work then?

shift + delete with contact data "address card" highlighted = "errors
detected in outlook\outlook.pst. this is the only data in contacts which
generated said message.

You need a new PST, I suspect. Create a new one with File>New>Outlook Data
File. Make it your delivery location (exactly how is version-specific and you
decided mentioning your version wasn't important). Then copy the data that's
still good from the folders in the old PST to the corresponding folders in the
new PST and close the old PST when finished. You'll simply leave the bad data
behind in the old PST you won't use any more.
