Remote Procedure Call (RPC) stopping by itself

My new system is rebooting by it self due to Remote
Procedure Call (RPC) stop working,
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)is set for auto start...
an idea how to fix it???

Sorry but the answer is not good

If you connected the PC to the Internet without
having first
installed the KB824146 Hotfix, without having first
installed an
antivirus application with current virus definition
files, and before
enabling a firewall, you're very likely to get infected
from any of
the thousands of PCs on the Internet that are constantly
broadcasting
the Blaster and/or Welchia worms. It only takes a few
seconds of
exposure.

To stay on-line long enough to get the necessary
updates, patches,
and removal tools, click Start > Run, and
enter "shutdown -a" when the
next RPC countdown begins. This will abort the shut
down. Also, make
sure you've enabled a firewall before starting, to
preclude any more
intrusions while getting the updates/patches/tools.

I am having the same problem and I try to get new patches

but can't because during the installation my computer
restarts because of the problem.

Someone please advise!

call microsoft's free tech support on blaster worm. that
number is 1-866-727-2338

I had that same problem recently & it was the Blaster
Worm. They will walk you thru the steps but basicly they
told me to Go to www.microsoft.com/downloads for
a "Security Update for Windows XP (KB823980) & download.
Then download the "Blaster Worm Removal Tool for Windows
XP".

Both on are that site.

If the RPC pops up before you can get it downloaded, go
to START, select RUN and type: shutdown -a
this will buy some time.
