Remote Desktop Connection to a WinXP Pro laptop behind Dlink 624+

The Dlink router 624+ is only commercilized in Europe.
I would like to make a Remote Desktop Connection from a laptop (client) with
WinXP Prof over Internet to another laptop with WinXP prof which is connected
with an ethernet cable to a Dlink router which has a broadband connection to
Internet. What do I need to configure in the router and what type of
connection do I need to set up in the laptop connected to the router?
So far I have tried to set "Incoming Connections" on the laptop behind the
router I want to connect to and tried to connect to the router with the IP
address assigned to the router by my ISP. The IP address is dynamic but never
changes as long as I do not disconnect the router. Anyone trying the same
thing and have succeded? Please explain to me.

You need to forward/open TCP Port 3389 on any firewall/router the PC you
want to connect to is behind. Call the PC using its public IP (ie. as
assigned by the ISP) or a fully qualified domain name (FQDN). See this page
for help...

There is no need to use a VPN unless you want the added security of running
Remote Desktop through the VPN tunnel.
