remote assistance

I have setup the XP Pro to "Allow remote Assistance
invitations to be sent from this computer" and allow this
computerto be controlled remotely.

My problem is after I login from another machine to
administor the XP machine, the XP machine goes to the
login screen. I'm trying to be on at the same time with
the other user and control the session.

What am I missing?

I'm having RA problems too, but mine have something to do
with "...a remote host name could not be resolved". In
your case, are you by any chance using the Remote Desktop
(RD) feature instead of Remote Assistance (RA)? If so, RD
will lockout the PC you're helping. (By the way, my
apologies if I'm saying things you already know.) RA, on
the other hand, works across invitations sent by the
person needing assistance. These invitations can be sent
via MSN messenger or email (as an attch). I prefer the
latter. After you execute the RA invitation, the user
needing assistance will receive a dialog box asking
whether or not to grant access to their PC. Once they
accept, you'll have various assist options at hand and
the other user will be able to watch everything you're
doing. Hope this helped. Good luck! -Rick

Yes you are right. I'm using remote desktop from a
windows 2k machine. Do you know if RA will install on a
windows2000 machine?

How are trying to connect to the remote machine? is it
through the internet or lan? if internet, you have to
have an entry in a public DNS pointing to that machine.
If it is a local machine, make sure you have either DNS
server or a host entry file.
