Is it safe to defragment a non-system hard drive partition by remote, over
the Internet, via WinXP Pro's
Remote Assistance? What about doing Windows updates? Both PCs are running
WinXP Pro. TIA.

Since no one has answered you, I'll take a stab at it. Unless you are
just talking about showing an end user how to start the defrag, I
wouldn't. What if the connection fails? Besides, it is better to do a
defrag in Safe Mode anyway. That way you avoid having stuff writing to
the disk and causing problems with the defrag. You would have to have
even more processes running for the RA.
