remote access failure

O

Omari

Now i have a 2 part question
1)I have 2 pc's (Windows XP) networked by a an ethernet
10/100 cord. the biggest thing, is I want to use one
(here on in known as PCB)for its storage and a installed
programs only. I re-installed all the programs in a new
folder so i could access them from the new pc(here on in
known as PCA). i have disconnected the monitor, keyboard,
and mouse from PCB, and want to know how to make it as
much as a server and "slave" to PCA as possible.

2)In light of my first question, I realized that Remote
access could have solved the problem, but I cant get it
to work. I have both pc's saying that they will except
invitaions and send them; however, when I type the ip
address for the pc to connect, it just wont. the
troubleshooter on my pc wont work. What should i do?

Hi

As far as my thoughts go, I wouldn't remove the keyboard and mouse from the server; for the reason you'd only have control over this system remotely, and when rebooting the system you will get keyboard/mouse errors

Are you trying to gain control over the desktop itself, or are you trying to setup a RAS/VPN connection
Try using Remote Desktop feature from the control panel, system. Check the authorised users for this as well (on the same tab)
Are you running a firewall? This might also be an obstacle.
