Reinstalling Windows XP Home Edition

Hello...

I had reason to reinstall Windows on my PC at home. I booted
the machine from the OEM Windows CD.

The machine has SP2 installed as a patch...the setup program is
asking for a Windows CD with SP1 on it...I dont have a CD with SP1 or SP2 on
it...

The mchine won't boot at all now, where do I go from here?

I would download the floppies from the hard drive's web site and use
them to format and partition the hard disk. Then, I would go into the
BIOS and set it to boot from the CD first. Then I would slip the XP CD
in the CDROM, reboot and install XP.

You're going to either have to buy an XP with SP2 or learn how to
slipstream SP2 with your current version of XP. I would back up
everything before doing *anything* because repair installs, although
they usually work, can screw everything up.

Personally, I would go for a clean install to make sure every thing's OK
but that's just me.

Anyway it looks like you have a computer capable of doing some work. You
should definately slipstream your windows XP disk to include sp2 go to Paul
Thurrott's site and it will give you great directions:
