I have a problem with reinstalling Windows XP HE...

The machine booted from the OEM CD...now it is looking for XP SP1...which I
don't have.

Seeing as windows was a bit dodgy anyway I though I would go for a clean
install.

The HD is good I just want to get all my music and pictures off before I
reformat the drive.

Can it be done?

Did you try to feed it your OEM cd when it asks that? IT should work.

Yes. Yank the drive, put it in a another machine as slave. or put it in
a USB enclosure.
