If you go purchase a valid licence for Windows XP Pro. then yes. If you try
and install it with the key for your friends it will not activate and you
will either have to buy the software and get a key or format your hard drive
and install Windows XP Home again.

Hi

If your friend has already installed that copy XP and activated it - you won't be able to use it - not legal. If it hasn't been activated, that copy of XP will have to be uninstalled from your friend's PC and then given to you or bought by you with all the documentation that came with it - especially the 25 AlphaNumeric Product Key.

Installing XP Pro over a problematic XP Home is not necessarily going to
fix the problem. Can you tell us what problems you are having? We might have
another option you can use? Do you have a copy of Windows XP Home? If so you
can use it to repair your XP Home install.

first you have to back up your important files on burn cd
or zipdrive...whatever your hearts content. Then got to
your start menu and go in programs then accessiories then
the icon C:/command prompt. Now when the command open run
the command "Format C:/" this cleans the Harddrive
completly, then u install XP pro. I cant explane more then
this because it would take up toooooooo much text space
and anyway there is help files on installing XP pro ^_^ v

REMEMBER to back up important file after you format the
drive you will lose it all the hardrive will be clean as
if it were brand new.
