Reinstall WinXP after SP2 upgrade

I am running WinXP Home + SP2. Also AdAware, SPybot, and Norton AV 2005.

Still, my PC often locks up with Rundll32,exe running continuously and
consuming all CPU. Is there a way to reload this executable from my original
CDs?

When I attempt to use my system CDs, a popup says "Setup cannot continue
because the version of Windows on your computer is newer than the version on
the CD". I suspect that this is because I have upgraded to SP2 via the MS
website. What is the best way to reinstall from this point, if I need to go
that far.
Thanks.

hi bruce,

The best thing to do when installing sp2 is to remove any anti-virus
software and adware scanners.

now because you already have sp2 installed there are a things you could try,

1. uninstall service pack 2 from add/remove programs in the control panel,
then uninstall your anti-virus programs then re-apply the service pack then
install your antivirus programs

2. if you canot uninstall the service pack try using system restore, which
is located in accessories> system tools> system restore. the restore process
should be easy to follow

3. you could try a repair of xp using the original disk. to do this follow
the instructions on this link
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/doug92.mspx

you may need to re-apply service pack 2 after the repair, its best to remove
any anti-virus programs before running the repair
