Reininstall problems. Desktop

Could someone tell me why an application which
I have previously installed which appeared on the desktop
no longer does so when I install it now.

Hi Merv

Is there an option during the installation of the program to opt for a
Desktop icon or was it put there automatically before? You can add a
shortcut to the program by right clicking the Desktop, then following the
onscreen prompts.
