Registry Error

Every time that I start my pc, I get the following message: "Windows
encuntered an error accessing the system registry. Windows will restart and
repair the system registry for you." When I click on "OK" I get a 2nd error
message: "Registry Checker has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenience." I then click on "Send Error Report" but
after it is sent, nothing happens, so I am unclear on what I need to do to
fix this problem. Any suggestions? I have tried a thrid-party software
package called "Registry Cleaner" from a company called Max Secure Software,
but the problem continues to occur. Thanks...

A Registry cleaner often times does more harm than good. You should avoid
them. First make sure you have a full and complete backup of the important
data.

From Start | Run type in regedit. Click Ok. Does regedit run?
From Start | Run type in msconfig. Click Ok. Does Msconfig run?

Create a new user account. Does the problem occur in that account?
