That looked great, but when I downloaded and tried to run, it just briefly
flashed what appeared to be a command prompt screen, and then nothing???

Don't run it through Explorer - run it from a proper Command Prompt so that
you can see the error messages!

Start>Run> C:\Temp\AcronisCleanUp
CommandPrompt> C:\AcronisCleanUp
Both very briefly flash a screen resembling another cmd prompt screen.
On a MSdos boot floppy:: Error = "This Program will not run in DOS mode"..
I have downloaded fresh copies of the application with the same results???

No, this was not a Command Prompt. You launch a Command Prompt like so:
- Click the Start button.
- Click the Run button.
- Type the three letters cmd
- Click the OK button.
Now you have a Command Prompt. You must now type the full path and file name
to execute, e.g.

c:\Temp\AcronisCleanup.exe

Don't forget to press the Enter button.

Exactly the same flash as for the "Command Prompt" in Win2k
Programs>Accessories???

Then it's an issue with the Acronis uninstall program. Your best bet is to
consult the Acronis FAQs and/or contact their helpdesk.

Their helpdesk won't answer my e-mails; but I now have noted that
AcronisCleanUp.exe is for XP & Vista..
It appears the only way to clean the registry is to re-install Win2K??

Thanks for your time

Try this one:

Unregistering Acronis Scheduler Service
http://www.acronis.com/support/kb/articles/578/index.html

If that doesn't work follow the link to the Manual Uninstallation
instructions. Acronis can do one hell of a hatchet job when you
uninstall it!

After Uninstalling Acronis Tru Image Home 11
(License: (.............................),
I am left with (regedit) non removable Items of "acronis" in the registry:
HKLM\Software\Acronis
(and)
HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_ACRSCH2SVC

This causes Event Viewer Error:

The AcrSch2Svc service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the path specified...

HOW CAN I CLEAN UP MY REGISTRY??

http://personal.inet.fi/business/toniarts/ecleane.htm works very well to
remove those dead-end registry entries, stale temp files, etc. We've used it
for many years to clean-up after the Bill Gate$ mess.

Press the "Registry" button, "Find" and you can safely "Delete All"
everything that it finds. You should scroll the entries to see for yourself
that the Acronis dead-ends are listed. It will amaze you how much other
garbage is also found that Bill just kicked under the couch, so to speak..

I'll restrain my comments but I doubt that any registry cleaners would
be stupid enough to remove entries in the Enum key... but then with
these "cleaners" you never know what kind of dumb thing they will do.
Perhaps it may "fix" the OP's problems.

Before getting your suggestion, I converted my NTFS to FAT32, which
allowed regedit to remove about 75% of the Acronis Crap..
I no longer have Event Viewer Errors, so I am satisfied for the moment..

Many thanks to everyone who tried to help
Willard :)
