Are you logged in using an account with administrative privileges? Or
do you have an OEM installtion from which some options might have been
omitted by the computer manufacturer?

Yes, logged in as administrator since I there is 'no user' when I boot up the
pc. The xp is an OEM but I do not know if some functions had been omitted, if
so how can I check it? Thanks

Hi quad,

Sorry, I went through to the microsoft web site using the KB search for
foreign language/Asian language - that was my original attemp.

I am guessing you have XP running on your system. As Admin - go to the
Control Panel - click on "Regional and Language Options" click the tab
"Languages" and in the second section it talks about regional languages.
There is a box to check for
adding the Asian Languages. First though - click on the "?" (Upper Right
corner) and then click on the line you want to add - it explains the
requirements to install Asian Languages. Also make use of Microsoft KB - go
to microsoft dot com - support - Windows XP section and use the search - it
has additional information there as well. That is what I was attempting to
lead you to the first time. I hope this works for you - good luck and let me
know - Craig

I am a retail user.

Can I change the language setting in Windows Vista Home Premium from German
to English?

I called Microsoft Support but they don't know anything about Vista.
They guy told me that only with Vista Ultimate changing the language
interface is possible. I can't believe that as I read somewhere else that at
least through Language Interface Packs (LIPs) changing the language is
possible.

Can you help?

You'd have to contact the computer's manufacturer to see what, if
anything, they omitted from their customized Windows installation.
