Recycling Bin vs. permanent delete

Hi,

I've noticed that recently, when I delete files, many of them end up being
permanently eleted rather than ending up in Recycling Bin. Sometimes, it
will as me if I want to delete it permanently when a file is too big. But,
files get deleted without asking me the question. Is there an optionI can set
to fix this?

Thanks

Try this.

On the desktop, right click Recycle Bin | Properties |
Uncheck: Do not move files to the Recycle Bin |
Check: Display delete confirmation dialog
Click Apply | Click OK

Do not move files to the Recycle Bin
[[Specifies whether the items you delete are immediately removed from your
hard disk or the items you delete are moved to the Recycle Bin. Items moved
to the Recycle Bin are not removed from your hard disk until you empty the
Recycle Bin. ]]

Display delete confirmation dialog
[[Specifies whether a confirmation message is displayed when you delete
files to prevent you from deleting files in error. If the Do not move files
to the Recycle Bin check box is selected, you cannot change this setting. ]]

Are you using Shift + Delete?

That key combination bypasses the Recycle Bin.

If you are using Shift + Delete, try using just the Delete key. Delete key
sends files to the Recycle Bin.

No, I've never used Shift + Delete. I've always used just delete button or
right click then delete. Any more ideas?

Thanks

The bin is probably full. Are the file that are being removed without
asking you older ones? If so then this is just normal operation for
the bin. If the bin is full then it will delete older files to make
room for newer ones.

The bin is definitely not full. In fact, it's empty. I always empty it
whenever I get a chance.
Also, I should clarify the issue. Most of the times, the files do end up in
the bin. But, sometimes when everything looks normal, and it looks like the
file should end up in the bin, it's gone. It didn't ask me to delete it
permanently or anything. It should have been sent to the bin, but it's not
there.
Any ideas?

Thanks

• Deletions from removable disks (CD-RWs, floppy disks, Zip drives, and

• Deletions from remote shares.
• Deletions from compressed (zipped) folders.
