Recycle Bin not filling

M

Mrspaceman

When I delete files they just disappear rather than going
into the recycling bin. If I drag a file into the
recycling bin it deletes permanently as well. It does
not seem to matter how the recycle bin properties are
set. Any ideas??

Should note that I just reload windows XP after
recovering from a hard disk crash.

Hi,

The files may be present in the recyclebin. Right-click the "empty looking"
Recycle-bin and choose "Empty Recycle bin". If the option is greyed out, you
are right. (the files are bypassing the recycle-bin.). In this case, the
"'NukeOnDelete" registry key might be enabled.

1. Open Registry Editor [Regedit.exe]
2. Goto:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\BitBu
cket]
3. Change the value of "NukeOnDelete" to 0
4. Restart Windows
