Recycle Bin problem

When I empty my recycle bin, it prompts me with the question "Are you sure
you want to delete 'WINDOWS'?". There is nothing in the Bin, even with
system and hidden files shown. The desktop icon shows full, and the option
to empty is there, but no folder called Windows.

I've had this problem once before, but that was caused by a gibbled version
of Norton Antivirus that apparently tried to say my Windows folder was one
big virus, and sent it to the Bin automatically. In that case, I was able to
restore the folder, scan it again with McAfee, and found nothing. Now, for
no reason whatsoever, there is that stupid folder again, apparently.

Any help would be appreciated.

This may be due to the corrupt info2 file. Create a dummy notepad document
and save it. Delete the file and let it go to recycle bin. Now, empty
recycle-bin.

If that does not help, you may need to delete the Recycled folder or delete
the info2 file. See, Troubleshooting the Recycle Bin:

Ok...I have tried sending dummy files, etc. The folder is still there. I've
read through your support page, but the only section that pertains to my
problem (info2) will not work under XP Home. I substituted 'command' for the
old 'cmd', and tried to get the rest to work, and all it says is "invalid
directory". Your site says that Windows (FAT32) will replace info2 if i
delete it. Is this still true for XP (NTFS)?

For NTFS, the info2 is present in one level deep.

C:\Recycler\<Your account SID>\INFO2

Some users have had success after deleting the entire Recycler folder using
the following command:

rd /s /q c:\recycler
