When I reboot and the computer starts up I get the message "one of your disks needs to be checked for consistency " Et cetera . The disk is usually F disk which is a partition of my primary drive . I have two hard drives and both are partitioned . The problem, however, occurs only on the one partition .
When the disk is checked no errors are found and XP starts up normally.
However, if I try and check for defragmentation of that drive, the response I get is that errors have been found on this disk and a check has been scheduled so analysis cannot be continued.
When i reboot again the whole thing starts all over again.
So, can someone help me to stop the computer from checking my partition every time I reboot?
Also, I would like to be able to check for defragmentation and defragment the disk.
I have checked Windows XP newsgroups but all suggestions have been of no value to me
