when doing a reload using windows xp c/d with the help of windows support we
saved all ancillory/auxillary gear using dos com (i hope i am making sense)
after the reload i tried to reinstall all the saved gear but by using a
questionable method and in the process got things a little screwed up now i
want to run system recovery using the backup via load F10 but seem to have
lost it (not the plot) can anyone advise me of a method or process i can use.
i have tried to making a boot disc using auto streamer (does anyone know of
it) but when trying to burn to c/d had a bit of trouble any advice would be
appreciated (and i dont need half baked useless responses)

Your post makes no sense. It is unclear what you did, what
when wrong, what is missing and what you would like to
achieve. Try rephrasing your post and consider adding some
punctuation marks in order to improve its readability.

Well, I'm afraid that is all you are going to get, because you have asked
half baked useless questions. Or I think they are questions, I'm not even
sure of that. What did you save, and where did you save it, and more
importantly, why? Now keep in mind that XP has no DOS...

Apparently the reload worked, but then you what? What is a 'questionable
method' and what was the result?

Here, to help you a bit, go here.

I suggest cut the crap and get hold of Oiginal Operating CD and boot
with it. Your only option now left is to perform a clean install.

I hope this is not "half baked useless response". In future, could you
reciprocate so that we don't get half cooked useless questions on this
techinical yet very useful newsgroup.

Good bye.

phew, i guess i asked for it - first of all i understand that this is a
responsible user group forum and am thankful for it, the reason i did a
reload in the first place was because of various problems that windows was
unable to help me fix and it was there suggestion to do this, they sent me
the disc and with there assisstance ran the reload and saved all programs
that would be removed during full reload otherwise they would have been
deleted, the reload seemed ok but then i had to recover the programs saved
and was not sure of the proper way to do it, now i only have half the
programs on my all programs list and want to run the recovery module but it
seems as if it has been corrupted and cannot run, boot/F10 used to activate
the recovery module but not now - that is the crux of my problem and if
anyone has any advice i would appreciate it

Since you refer to pressing F10 to restore your computer, you apparently
have an OEM machine like an HP. Contact HP tech support to find out why
you can't restore your computer to factor condition.

And as others have told you, next time you want to post please see these
sites for guidelines:

thanks Malke - yes i have a compaq presario 06 system type X86 running xp
home edition with ie6 sp2 and i can use the F10 to activate recovery console
(or used to) and if that helps to explain - good, and i have read the
http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm - but how does that help explain my
problems.

It doesn't, it tells you how to ask questions properly using sentences
that start with Capital letters and end with a full stop.
State what system you have, the problems you have and what you have tried,
not forgetting to do this in sentences and not all run together in one big
blob, then people will be able to read and understand you, then you will
get help with your problems.

Pressing F10 on an HP does not "activate recovery console". It starts
HP's Recovery process to fix Windows and/or to take the machine back to
factory condition. Refer to your manual or HP's tech support website
for more help. I can't possibly explain your problems because you don't
make yourself understood. Again, either post in full sentences with
standard capitalization and punctuation - after looking at the links
you've been given to see how to write a good newsgroup post - OR simply
do this:
