I thought it would be interesting for some personal & positive recommendations for WINDOWS Hosts.

Jim B & Chris L have already weighed in with their opinions in the past.

I'd be curious about any other hosts anyone out there has personal experience in using and are HAPPY with. I'm not necessarily looking for cheap...just reasonable and good service is fine with me. I'm sure others would be interested in this as well.

Please don't list the nightmare hosts, ok?

I'm looking to switch 3 old webs and have 3 new ones coming online in the next month, with more to follow.

Tech support is great! They just upgraded their equipment and OS to Windows
Server 2003 with HELM control panel. Been with them for three years, just
starting my fourth. 99.999 up time. Problems very very few and far between.

Hi Rob,

Two hosts that I currently use..and am very happy with both are:

http://www.infoquest.com $19.95 monthly for Superaccount.

http://www.webhost4life.com/ A few different plans, a few more features than
Infoquest, Prices comparable to or less (but you need to pay a year in
advance..should you decide to cancel all unused time is refunded)

Either of these would be a good choice. (Heck I won't even give you a
reseller ID unless you absolutely beg me to! :)

I've had very good experience with a very small Windows hosting shop called Boundgrid Technologies (www.boundgrid.net). I've been with them for about 9 months, and have found them distinctive on three dimensions

1) VERY inexpensive shared SQL Server accounts
2) Excellent, very flexible account automation and Control Panel (they use Horde) - invaluable if you run multiple site
3) Great personal service, almost always through the owner, who does much of the technical support himself

I don't have years of hosting experience, but the difference between Boundgrid and my previous host, Verio, was like night and day

Wow this is all great stuff guys...keep 'em coming! By Monday I will be on physic overload...but this is good stuff.

Joe, can you actually make a coupla bucks by being a reseller? Do you think I should be billing my clients for hosting rather than letting them pickup the tab directly? Anyone doing this?

I figure I can bring on and design one a month easily with my current client database of over 3000 clients I figure I can weasel at least 100 webs outta them ! :)

Thanks everyone! Sorry about this being slightly OT, but it's sorta related since I'm addicted to FP.

Hi Rob,

Of the two hosts I showed you before..the 2nd one has a much better reseller
plan. There are different plans that they offer for resellers. From
affiliate..all the way up to what they call Advance Reseller..or in other
words from free..up to some major money. Take a look here:

http://www.webhost4life.com/reseller.asp

Just as a normal practice..I charge my clients $5.00 more per month than it
costs me. Is it worth it? Sometimes that is debatable...but if you have
enough clients you can certainly at least save a lot of money..or even make
quite a bit..and you certainly don't have the headaches of running a server
yourself..you can leave that part up to those who know how to do it! :)

Cool.

Yah, nooo I have no intention of owning a server anymore. Many moons ago I almost bought into owning an ISP...I should have because the kid that started it here in phx ended up selling his share a few years later for....23 MILLION yah...really. I miss a lot of boats sometimes.

The majority of these forums use the free phpBB software (or phpBB Nuke
which is based closely on the original phpBB) and are all therefore
based around the same "framework" - differences in visual look-and-feel
come from applying themes (skins) or mods to the basic program.

See http://www.phpbb.com/ for more information, themes, mods, etc. They
also have their own forum for troubleshooting or just help with phpBB.

message Ah very nice...thanks!

BTW...how come PHP sites always have that similar cool "look" about
them? I really like that.

the php people seem to be good graphics people and share what seems to be a
common appreciation for the style sheet. generally speaking. I think
they're generally more experienced that people that just write html.
IMHO
but the same goes for any community of a particular advanced scripting lang.
