I replied to your previous post, please do not send the same question more
than once.

Please copy and paste the complete error message that WM gives when you try
to use your account. It avoids possible typing errors.

Thanks Steve but where is the "reply to" it may seem a dumb question. I right clicked got the copy but could not find the "reply to". If I am overseas and have mobile broadband (with another provider) would this change my settings or have some bearing on the case? I appreciate your help

Just paste it to where you typed the message, like above.

Does your ISP offer web mail access?

Wow what a mess!!

Who on earth set up those accounts, it is obvious that they have NEVER
worked at all, not just because you are abroad.

To try to get you connected via email, lets stick with the gmail account for
now, please see the two following links to the correct setup instructions.

For gmail access in Windows Mail, see:

http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=86382

For 'Internode' settings see:

http://www.internode.on.net/support/guides/email/setup_guides/windows/microsoft_outlook_express/

It describes Outlook Express settings, but they are exactly the same in
Windows Mail.

For 'Chariot' see:

HTH?

Please get back if you need more assistance?

You appear to be from Australia, you say that you are abroad, which country
are you in now and what is the Internet Service Provider that you are
currently using to connect to the Internet.

Beverley, are you using a Mobile Phone as the Modem or is your connection
via a USB Dongle etc?

Please explain.

Also after you have had another go at the gmail account settings, please
provide complete error messages, if any.

You should be able to send and check email by entering your credentials
here:

Please revisit this link

And follow the instructions.

You entered incorrect server names.

Use
pop.gmail.com
smtp.gmail.com
On the server tab of the account.

PLEASE type any reply either at the end of my text, or at the top, not in
the middle, it looks a right old mess :)

See where your error message says "Server: 'POP3'"?
That part is wrong. The incoming server name should be pop.gmail.com.
You can correct the server name by going to Tools, Accounts, select that
gmail account, Properties, Servers.

Steve, Sorry to be going on with this but can now receive e-mails from gmail but cannot send. I put the settings in that was suggested and the following comes up
The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'Fw: GREETINGS
FROM ZERMATT', Account: 'gmail', Server: 'smtp.gmail.com', Protocol: SMTP,
Server Response: '530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first.
