Re-Post Control Panel

I posted this problem couple days ago, and still haven't figured out what
problem is. Anyone have any idea what problem might be and how I can fix
it?
Thanks

When I look at Control Panel/Add Remove Programs, there's hardly any
programs listed there. I did have lots of programs listed, and they are
still on computer and operable, just they are not listed in Add/Remove.
Anyone have any idea what might have happened. Don't think I've done
anything to computer other than download Microsoft Office Sounds. All
updates are current. When I do system restore, the programs come back, but
when I reboot, they are gone again. Only programs that are listed are....
HP DLA, HP Memories Disc, Microsoft Broadband Networking, Microsoft Office
Sounds, Microsoft Office XP Pro with Front Page, WebFldrs XP and WOrks Suite
OS Pack. I don't know what WebFldrs XP is. That is a recent thing that
appeared. All my updates used to be listed here, and now they are not
listed here. I am running Vcatch basic virus program, and have firewalls
enabled in XP and also with router.

Running XP home.
480 megs ram. Pentium 4, 1.60 GHz

Something has hit the relevant registry entries, which have been
restored by the restore. Do that again, then run regedit, open to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
and highlight it, and File - Export. Have it out of the way somewhere
(a floppy perhaps). Then if they vanish again, you can r-click that
file, Merge to restore the key as it stands to the registry (and without
losing anything added later),

Hi Alex,

Just a follow-up for you: In private correspondence, Luke told me that the
entire uninstall key did not exist in his registry (wasn't just missing
entries, it was not there at all). On my suggestion, he did a system restore
to the day prior and the uninstall key is now there, and his Add & Remove
entries have returned.
