Re-installing SP1a

Nick

I downloaded and installed SP1a, but then had to
reinstall XP Home i.e. start from scratch. But I'd saved
the Service Pack folder and all files (over 200MGB) onto
CD first. Now I can't work out how to install SP1a again
without having to do a 3-hour download. I don't seem to
have the "XPsp1.exe" file - is that crucial?

Thanks for the reply Chris. I assumed I'd saved
everything as I'd copied the complete Service Pack
directory to CD. I don't understand why anything should
be missing. Can you explain please?

It appears you backed up the oringal pre-sp1 filoes from your old install.
Unless you see a folder named "update" and "update.exe" inside that folder,
you just backed up the pre-sp1 files. If you exact SP1 from its archive
its only 162 MB.

You will need to obtain a copy of the service pack in order to install it.
