I lost my authentication code but did register it with
microsoft (the exercise over the phone, the blocks a-g)and
now my harddrive crashes and the vendor tells me to reload
XP home. I can't I don't have the codes. What do I do?

If you have a version of XP that was supplied by system manufacturer,
either a shop or a major manuvaturer such as HP, IBM, etc. you must
contact them for a replacement ID.
