Ow, my eyes hurt from looking at all-caps.
Ow, my ears hurt from your screaming.
All-caps = screaming.
Repost in mixed case when you decide not to scream at those from whom
you want help.

SAFE MODE...
*cough cough hack*

Sorry. I meant "Boot into Safe Mode".
( Also turn off Caps Lock. ;-) )

Start the computer and as soon as it starts begin tapping the F8 key.
Hopefully you will get to the Boot menu which has several options. One of
those will be Last Known Good Configuration. You will have to use your arrow
keys to highlight it and then press the Enter key to accept. Hopefully this
will get you back to a working system. If not do the same process but select
Safe Mode and see if you can boot to the Safe Mode Desktop. It may show a
washed out color and have other visual limitations but you should be able to
get back to msconfig at which time you can go to Start->Help and
Support->Pick a task and select System Restore. Use the wizard to revert
back to a time prior to the problem occurring. That might get you running
again. Following that post the exact problems you consulted emachine to have
resolved and perhaps we can help you with those.

Thank You so so much!
I did attempt to start in safe mode last night (several times) but was
unable to find where i would do that. I will try to do this tonight with my
fingers crossed!
Also, I want to thank all of you that replied to my S.O.S.! I did not mean
to type in all caps i think i was just in panic mode = ) All of you may not
realize that the lil bit of information that you shared (that was probably
effortless for each of you) can actually mean the world to someone like me,
who is a single parent/homeowner who is trying to make xmas special for her
child and dosnt have a couple hundred dollars to fix the computer or buy a
new one....
Thank You all for all that you do!!!!!!

Ok so... i forgot my screen print at work for what i was supposed to do to my
comp when i got home, but luckily i work saturdays so ill try again tonight =
)
F8 was not an option for me, it did nothing. I do however have 2 options F2
and F10 one was BIOS settings and the other is boot option. When going into
both i saw nothing that said Safe Boot or Last known good config??? Under
Boot Options it just asked how i want to boot (hard disk cd etc) I did try
hard disk and saved but after nothing changed??? Now im wondering if im just
completly lost as to what sounds like very clear and simple instructions or
is my comp just completely dead.
***sniffles*** Ill keep trying though = )

Thank You Jamal!
I will try this if i can get ahold of a XP disk from someone...
The gentlemen i spoke to at the geek sqaud at Best Buy told me not to bother
buying a recovery disk because it wont work if i cant see my desktop??? Maybe
he just wants me to bring it in or to buy another computer hmmm

F8 can be funny sometimes. I'd try it again. The time to press F8 is
*immediately* after the opportunity to press F2 or F10. And it won't
hurt to repeatedly press F8 (several times per second, for as long as it
takes -- perhaps five to ten seconds) *immediately* after you boot up
until you hopefully get a menu that looks like this:

http://www.microsoft.com/library/me...g/setup/support/68224pick-last-known-good.gif

If you see this menu, you're in good shape. Although you could select
Safe Mode and get into msconfig once more and undo the changes you made,
you might also have success with choosing Last Known Good Configuration
(that's what I would try first).

So don't give up on F8 just yet! Let us know if you can get to that
menu.

For future reference, you skipped a very important step when you were
following the eMachines' tech person's (poorly conveyed) instructions.
If you ever want to perform a clean boot for troubleshooting, print out
the instructions on this page:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353

Note that in Step 2, there is an important step between points 5 and 7:

"6. Click to select the *Hide All Microsoft Services* check box."

That one makes all the difference. :) Bottom line is that you do *not*
want to disable any Microsoft services. All the non-Microsoft services,
yes, but not *every* single service there is!

F2 and F10 are BIOS functions. F8 is a Windows function, which is why is
does not show up on the initialization screen.

To enable F8 into safe mode, one has to find the time to start tapping F8
and the frequency that it has to be tapped by trial and error.

F8 is a casualty of computers flashing through initialization so fast that
one can't tell when to start tapping F8..

You will get the hang of it eventually.. :)

Press F10 to get boot options. Then select the option to boot the hard drive
and press the Enter key and then IMMEDIATELY after pressing the Enter key
start tapping F8. That should do it.
