When i'm using this forum (Windows XP newsgroups) in IE, when i click on New
Question, no window opens up. A window opens when i click "reply" to a post,
but not when i want to post a new question. It works in Mozilla firefox, but
not IE. Any ideas why?

thanks

Probably a popup blocker.

My advice is to stop using the clumsy interface tothese newsgroups (they are
not forums) and use a newsreader instead. The MS public news server is
msnews.microsoft.com, no authentication is required, and you can subscribe
to as many groups as you like. It's much much better.

Few of the regulars here use the web interface to these groups,
because it's slow and horrible. You'll be much better off to set up an
actual newsreader to use here. Outlook Express is probably already on
your computer, that can be used for this task. Other candidates are
Forte Agent (http://www.forteinc.com/agent) and Mozilla Thunderbird
(http://www.mozilla.org/thunderbird).

When you set up your newsreader point it at this server:
msnews.microsoft.com. That hosts all the microsoft.public.* groups.
Your ISP may provide access to their NNTP server which may have tens
of thousands of groups.

Here is a link with info on how to setup Outlook Express to access
newsgroups. It is much better than the lousy web interface.
