Hi all. In the past when i drag my files from 1 folder to another folder, a
copy of those files would still exist in the original folder. However
recently i realise when i drag files to another folder, the file is removed
from the original folder. How can i solve this? Thks in advance.

I usually drag files with the right mouse button. That way, when
you release the mouse you will get a context menu with the
choices "Move here" or "Copy here". Then you can select exactly
what you want to happen.

When dragging a file in Explorer, you can control the operation that will be
performed when you release the mouse button:

Hold the Control key to force a Copy.

Hold the Shift key to force a Move.

Hold the Alt key to force a Create Shortcut.

If you drag an item while pressing the right mouse button, you can move,
copy, or create a shortcut to the file in its new location.

If you drag an item to another disk, it is copied, not moved. To move the
item, press and hold down SHIFT while dragging.

Dragging a program to a new location creates a shortcut to that program. To
move a program, right-click and then drag the program to the new location.
You must be logged on as an administrator to move a program.

When you drag and drop a file within a drive, it is 'moved'.
When you
drag and drop a file from one drive to another, its a 'copy'.
Hope
this clears yours doubts.

I always have trouble remembering those rules, which seem
arbitrary to me. So what I do is is always drag with the right
mouse button instead of the left. That way, when you drop the
file a dialog box pops up letting you choose move or copy.
