Question on Resolving names

I think I've figured this out, but just wanted to confirm before getting back to my user. When Outlook looks to the contact folders to resolve names, does Outlook seearch all contact folders for the given last name or only the first folder

This is probably unclear. Here's my situation. When my user, Joe, types in "Johnson" and hits reolve names the list that appears contains names from our Global Address List only. The person he's looking for is within a public folder. Joe would like the Check Names list to have all the contacts with Johnson as a last name. I've checked Options within the Address Book and the folder resolution list contains the public folder although it is listed after the GAL.

As a further test, I reordered the folders so that the public folder was first and the GAL was second and ran a test. The Check Names list that appeared had Johnson names from the public folder and not the GAL

So is there anyway, any check box somewhere, that will force Outlook to continue looking for contacts in other folders for the same last name?

Outlook searches the lists in its search list sequentially. Once it finds a
list with one or more matches, it searches no further lists. YOu can't
change this behavior, which is by design for performance purposes.
