PSC 2175V Question...

Is there any major difference between the PSC 2175 and the 2175V?
Reason I ask is because I purchased the PSC 2175V and have a question
as to how it is running.

In particular, when a document is printing and coming into the output
tray, there are those small "clips" on both the left and right that
pop up to hold the paper up as it is coming out. if you look in the
out paper tray, you see one on the left and right, however the one on
the left appears to be more prominant

I noticed on SOME of the pages that it printed, that the clips that
come up as the paper is coming out to hold the paper up, they didn't
come up to hold it up. They would come up for the first and second
pages, but wouldn't for the third and following pages. Or it might be
different and not come up on other pages. What would be causing that.
I don't know what their technical name is, but I printed the document
using the FastDraft mode. That was a document I printed from MS
Word. I have also experienced similar problems printing from internet
explorer.

What is the purpose of these devices? This is the second 2175V
printer I have had. I returned the first one to the place of purchase
after talking to HP tech support, but now that I have this second
printer doing the same thing, I am wondering if maybe I am missing
something. With these devices not coming up as a document is being
printed, should I even worry about this causing problems when it comes
to printing documents in the future?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

They are the same printer sold through different sales outlets.

The "wings" hold the paper for a short time to allow the page below to dry to
avoid smearing. Generally the printer takes note of what is being printed and
will only hold the paper if necessary.
