I am having an issue. I have a user who has a laptop and now wants to join
the company domain. Problem is he has tons of data ie. email....calendar
appts and stuff on his laptop. I created a user account on the 200 server
domain for him and joined his laptop to the domain. As expected he does not
see any of his old data and emails ect. What is the best way to have him see
his old stuff? Thanks!

Just go onto the machine and copy the data from his local account
folder under Documents and Settings. His new account will be called
something like "username.domain"

Way to do this is to:

Logon as Administrator.
Rename the 'user' profile folder to something else.
Join the computer to the domain.
Have 'user ' log on once.
Log off, and back on as Administrator.
Delete the unwanted 'user' profile-folder which the domain-logon created,
and rename his own folder back to its original name.

Finally assign ownership to the new user, who will have a different SID
although his name is the same.

This should give the user his files and settings exactly as they were,
except that he's now a domain member. It's a convoluted and time-consuming
process, mind you, and it must be done exactly as stated, otherwise the
folder will simply be 'sidestepped' again.

-Which is why, for single-user computers, I prefer to use MyLogon to connect
to the domain, instead of attempting this.
