Tired of Ye Olde Runaround? Check out Open Source. You can get a free
operating system that needs no activation or becoming MS "genuine".
Check it out at www.ubuntu.com/ and order the free Feisty Fawn Ubuntu
7.04. They will even pay the postage to send it to you.

Well, if MS are to be believed then the person who told you that should
be fired. All anyone here can do is tell you to call that number again
and follow the instructions or wait for a customer (lack of) service
representative.

When you say it won't activate I guess we assume it's a new install of
Vista or have you just put new hardware in the machine? (Or did it just
happen)?

For what it's worth a LOT of people are not happy about the way this is
being done and it is going to cost Microsoft amount of money that you
and I couldn't count in a lifetime, but I guess they are slow learners.
It is doing so well at preventing piracy they just cut the price of
Vista in halp in China :)

So, you have my sympathy but all I can tell you is that if it won't
activate online you HAVE to go through the phone system.

What are the details that led to the activation?

Is this key in use on any other computers?
You can only install on one computer with a single license.

If you have removed it from one computer and installed on another or
need to activate again on the same computer, call back the activation
number.
There may have been a misunderstanding between you and the tech.

For now?
You don't have Vista...and by your own implication in this ng, many
times, you are financially embarrassed and can't afford the $800USD
charged in spain and you're telling the op that they are ok "for now"?
What arrogant bs is this?
Something new out of your lying mouth?

Liar. If I wanted Hasta la Vista, I would contact a relative in the
States and get it from there. I don't want it is different than I can't
afford it or are you too dense to understand that?

No, he's OK until the next time Hasta la Vista, Baby decides he has done
something wrong and has to activate again.

I can't see how this could be illegal if you are using it to use a
legally aquired copy which you have activated legally on this machine
before.

Hope it helps,

Tom

You can only use Vista or any Windows CD on one machine, once. It you try
twice, then you will need to activate. Easy phone activation and your back
in business. Guess what, that is what those agreements we all avoid reading
say.
