Windows Vista Product key.

I bought my ACER laptop in febuary and it had windows vista home premium
pre-installed. I think i used the disk that came with it to re-install vista
a few times since then. Now i got my internet connection for my laptop and
when i try to activate Windows Vista it says that the key is invalid. I trid
using the Automated phone system which stated that my product key was already
in use on another computer. I went back to the store that i bought it from
and they told me to phone/email Microsoft, i have decided to E-mail since i
find it hard to communicate my problem over verbally. When i insert my
Product ID into the the email pre registration thing it says it is not
following the format, which it clearly is. I can't contact them by email so i
came here. Any solutions to any of my problems?

Call Microsoft and have your soul ready for an even exchange.

If you have an OEM license, Microsoft cannot help you. I would suggest
returning the equipment.

Acer supplied your laptop with an OEM copy of Vista. OEM copies do not have
any Microsoft support. The only support available is from Acer themselves.
It is 'their' responsibility. Obviously you purchased the laptop from a
store rather than directly from Acer, therefore it is up to the store to
sort the problem out. The store should contact Acer to find out what they
should do.

The advice given by JoAnn is good, but do not call them first.. go to the
store, explain the problem and get them to activate the software for you..

Your best long term solution is to go and download a free ISO of Ubuntu and
install that. Then you can kiss goodbye this activation bullshit from
MickeyMouse and start using a real operating system that is stable, secure
and free of DRM and other bozo ideas that MickeyMouse dreams up.

Cheers.

That's a great idea - because that way when they can't do it, you can demand
your money back...and buy a computer elsewhere.
