Invalid Product Key

I've been trying to enter my product key for the microsoft office
applications. However, each time I want to enter the product key # that's
listed on the back of the computer (vista was already installed on laptop
when bought), but the computer tells me the key is invalid. Furthermore, i
did a computer audit to get the product key, which seemed successful, but
when I entered the product key listed (which was different from the one on
the back of the computer for some reason), it still said the product key was
invalid. Suggestions?

The product key affixed to your PC is for Windows Vista,
not Microsoft Office. Assuming you have a new PC that
came with a sixty day trial version of Microsoft Office:

Well, yes. That's the Product Key for Windows Vista, *not* Office.

If you purchased a license for Office along with the computer, the
Office Product Key will be on the documentation accompanying the Office
installation disc. If you merely have an evaluation copy of Office
(many factory configured systems come this way) you'll need to first
purchase a full Office license, and then use that Product Key to
finalize the Office installation.

Your copy of Windows Vista probably came with a trial copy of Office and has
now expired. When its expired, it ask you to enter a valid product key you
might have purchased from the OEM or Microsoft. If it is a full OEM version
of Office, look through your software and documents that come with the
Computer, there might be COA with the product key on it.
