procedure entry point LdrLockLoaderLock missing

Hello Group:

I installed MS Office XP on my wife's Windows 2000 Pro sp4 computer,
and immediately thereafter whenever I load Mozilla, I get this
message:

The procedure entry point LdrLockLoaderLock could not be found in the
dynamic link library ntdll.dll.

So I upgraded to the latest Mozilla version 1.7.7, but no help.

As best I can tell from MS, this kind of error message occurs when the
application (presumably Mozilla) thinks the OS is a different one,
such as WIN98 and cannot find the appropriate dll.

I can't imagine how installing MS Office could affect Mozilla, which
was running fine before, and maybe it's not cause and effect, but
suspicious.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks!

Will do. thanks.

Unfortunately, no help. I ran sfc /scannow and inserted the CD with
sp4 when requested. Then ran chkdsk /f /r (redundant, I know, but I
can never remember which switch is superfluous!).
So I'm still hoping for some advice.
Thanks.

From an earlier post; dont know whether its relevant.

Probably a bad or mismatched DLL causing this. Try this:

1. Unregister msctf.dll using the command "Regsvr32 /u msctf.dll".

2. Rename both msctf.dll and ctfmon.exe to .old extensions.

3. Reinstall or repair Office.

DL...
I couldn't unregister msctf.dll with regsvr32 /u command. I ran it
from cmd prompt and from the start|run site Got the error message:

LoadLibrary ("msctf.dll") failed. The specified procedure could not be
found.

So I tried just to repair the Office XP installation from the CD...no
help.

Then I removed all registry entries for msctf.dll and renamed it and
ctfmon.exe to "old" extensions, then reinstalled Windows XP.
Still getting the silly error message.

I guess my next step is to just remove Office XP and see what happens,
unless you have any other thoughts.

I do appreciate the advice.

I meant to say I reinstalled "Office XP" not WindowsXP...Sorry.
