LdrLockLoaderLock

I have installed 2000 on an XP workstation. When logging on, I get the error
message:

ctfmon.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point LdrLockLoaderLock could not be located in the
dynamic link library ntdll.dll

I read a posting about restoring the XP versions of NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM
to the root directory, which hasn't solved the problem.

The problem doesn't occur if you log on as Adminstrator.

Does anyone have any ideas? Many thanks.

There are too many questions to ask so here are a few:

Was the W2k installation so you can dual boot?

Were you replaceing XP with W2k?

Solution:

Problem is caused by a corrupt or mis-match dll.

from cmd line enter: regsvr32 /u msctf.dll

then rename msctf.dll and ctfmon.exe with .old extension

next go to control panel, add/remove program

and do a repair of Office. This should resolve your problem.

Great tip...I had the same problem...worked for me!
