LdrLockLoaderLock

Allan

Hi, I am getting the following popup message with Outlook
2003 on a Windows 2000 computer:

Outlook.exe - Entry Point Not found
The procedure entry point LdrLockLoaderLock could not be
located in the dynamic link library ntdll.dll

I have disabled Office Speech Recognition and Handwriting
because similar error was popping up on restart in
ctfmon.exe. (no ctfmon no error on startup - but I need
help with Outlook).

Thanks in advance

Does it still happen when you start Outlook in safe mode?
Start-> Run; "path to Outlook.exe" /safe

I tried starting Outlook in Safe mode and the error does
not originally popup - I got excited and posted such;
went back in to actually try doing things and the error
still pops up - just not on the initial load like
before. The error doesn't crash outlook but it is an
anoyance.

It crashed Outlook? What is logged to the Event Viewer?

Outlook does not crash - we just get the error message,
acknowledge it and continue.

This appears to becaused by an application being
installed that included msctf.dll in the installation
procedure. Thanks to Tim Newtons article I found I was
able to fix the problem. Tim suggested I do the
following:

1. Unregister msctf.dll using the command "Regsvr32 /u
msctf.dll" (I got an error when I did this but the end
result was the same).

2. Rename both msctf.dll and ctfmon.exe to .old
extensions.

3. Repair Office

Thanks for all of your help!
