Problems with Personal Folders Backup in OL 2003

Pamela

I have just upgraded from Office XP to Office 2003. I used the
Personal Folders Backup application successfully in Outlook XP, but,
upon upgrading to Outlook 2003, the add-in does not respond. I find
that it is listed in the COM Add-ins section, but it has been
de-selected. Each time I tick the selection, then close this window
and reopen, I find the box has become de-selected.

I've uninstalled this application through Add/Remove Programs window,
rebooted, then reinstalled more than 5 times now, but, after each
process, I still don't find the Backup function in the File Menu as I
did in Outlook XP. I've uninstalled all my add-in apps, and I've also
disabled NAV 2004 when installing Folders Backup, but I have not found
the solution to getting the program to stick.

Can anyone help me with this situation? I direly need the backup
program.

Regards,
Pamela

I have a similar problem only with Office XP and Outlook
2000. I have installed the program on several windows 98
machines but when I try to install the backup program on
an XP machine, it is non existent. It isn't even in the
com add ins section. I see that it is in the computer
when I go to control panel, but can't get it to work.

Any Suggestions?
Thanks Barry Hutchinson

I think I found the cause of the problem.

When outbak.dll was registered on my computer by the setup program, the
pathname in the registry used short names (c:\progra~1\micros~2 etc.)

I unregistered & re-registered the DLL (using regsvr32) and the path now
uses long names - and Outlook found it.

Cheers
