Problem with the Global Catalog on Windows 2000 server

John

Hello,

This error message came up as I was trying to add a person
to the global group. "a global catalog cannot be located
to verify that the user logon names does not already exist
in the enterprise"

Any suggestions on fixing this. I tried to assign a
different server to be the Global Catalog through AD sites
and services.

Thanks in advance for your help.

DC tahes some time prior it becomes a GC. Check that you have a GC on your
network GC's are located trough DNS, so check your DNS too (your
client/servers must point to your internal DNS server). Maybe run dcdiag on
your DC to diagnose active directory.
