A Global Catalog cannot be located....

Hello,

I have a domain with only one 2000 Domain Controller in
it, the other is an NT4.0 DC. I promoted the 2000 machine
to a global catalog by checking the corresponding box
under NTDS settings and re-booted the server. However,
when I go to make a user change, I still get the
message "A global catalog could not be located to verify
that the user logon name does not already exist in the
enterprise." Everything works ok, I can make changes, but
the message is annoying. Any suggestions would be
appreciated. Thanks!

You might try restarting the NetLogon service since that does
a re-registration of your SRV records with the (dynamic) DNS
server.

Also consider running DCDiag and save the output into a text file to
search for FAIL, WARN, and ERROR -- fix all problems.
