Problem with read receipt

I use Outlook 2003 and have several mail addresses
through different ISPs, some of which support only
inbound (POP3) mail. Via one of the latter, I received a
message requesting a read receipt which I allowed to take
place (I've now disabled read receipts - Tools > Options
E-mail options > Tracking options, if anyone's
interested).

Outlook sends the read receipt via the e-mail service on
which it arrived - but this service doesn't support
SMTP. I'm familiar with the problem because, if I
carelessly reply to a message received on this service,
the same thing happens. However, the read receipt
message doesn't appear in the Outbox, so I can't redirect
it to use a different account (one which supports
outbound mail).

The net result is that every 5 minutes Outlook tries to
send the read receipt with no hope of success. I'd like
to be able to delete the read receipt or redirect it, but
as I can't see it from Outlook there's no obvious way to
do this.

Set the outgoing server for all your inbound-only accounts to point to the
outgoing server of the account that you *can* send mail through. That will
allow the read-receipt to send, as well as allow you to reply to any
messages on those accounts.
