Hi,

I have XP Professional and IE 6 with service pack 2 installed on my
notebook. When I try to open any website, which is kind of pop-up (not those
unwanted pop-ups. for e.g. http://play.starhub.com/music/index.do#), it does
not open. Niether I get any error message.

Pop-up blocker my IE is turned off. Please avise how it can be resolved.

Thanks,
Darshil

Hi Darshil :)

Have you checked the Information Bar? Try the following and see if it helps:

How to allow Popups in IE Information bar

IE>TOOLS> Options> Privacy tab> Pop-up section> Settings button> check box
for information bar. There you can add the web address to allow pop-ups.

Also, set the security settings for Internet Explorer for Medium.

if you have any 3rd party toolbars such as Google, Yahoo, MSN, disable them.

also...

Hold down the Ctrl key while clicking on a link.

Hope this helps.

Hi Jan,

Thanks for this help. I do not have any third party toolbar. I changed the
settings the way you suggested. Still didn't work :(

This happens specially whenever there is a website like
http://play.starhub.com/music/index.do. Then click on 'Buy'. The new URL is
http://play.starhub.com/music/index.do#.

Please advise.

Thanks a ton...

Hi Darshil :)

Here is what happens when I click on the first link below and then click on
Buy in the first selection on the list a new window comes up with the
following message:

"A Purchase Available to Domestic Residents Only
We are sorry, but due to licensing restrictions, play.starhub.com content is
available only to residents of Singapore. Your internet protocol (IP)
address shows that you are attempting to access this web site from outside
Singapore. We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused. "

When I cut and paste the second link, it opens the same as the first. Is
this what is happening for you?

Hi Jan,

Good that you were able to open 2nd window. In my case, 2nd window does not
open at all. And that's the problem.

The message that you are getting is correct. As I am in Singapore, I will
not see that message. But as I said, that window does not open at all :(. Its
same issue with any other sites wherever there is popup like this.

Thanks for these efforts.

Hi Darshil :)

Then you have some something that is blocking the ability of other windows
to open. If you don't have any 3rd party toolbars, ad or popup blockers
that might prevent a new windows from opening, then you need to look at your
settings, or perhaps your AV. \

Also, try the following:

Go to Tools>Internet Options> Advanced.
Uncheck "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts".

f you're *sure* that another program isn't causing this, these links may
help.

You may have a program running which is blocking pop-up windows-
something like a firewall, Earthlink (or another) pop-up blocker, etc.
You'll have to uninstall the program or turn off the feature that's blocking
new windows.

If you have Norton anything disable it (for testing purposes).

With some programs of this type, using Ctrl+click or Shift+click will allow
a new window.

To keep more than one browser window open at a time, click File in the main
menu, select New, then Window. To close a browser window, click the X in the
top right-hand corner or select Close from the File menu. You can also open
a new browser window with Ctrl+N.
