Problem with MS Security Update

Tammi

I installed the lastest security update (KB912919) on my PC with no
problem. However, when I try to install it on my dad's PC, I don't get the
scan. (Active X is installed). Instead, I get a message that the computer is
no longer registered for updates. What does this mean? He gets automatic
updates? I'm given an option to Register the necessary files but when I try,
I get another message that tells me there was a problem encountered in
trying to access the webpage to view. I run Adaware and Spybot regularly
and has McAfee installed. What can I do?

Go to Start button > Run > and type; regedit and hit enter... Look in the
LOCAL MACHINE registry hive following the path below and look if a dword
value named NoAutoUpdate is present and set with a 1. The dword value shoud
not be present or set with a 0 so if it's present, delete it or set it with
a 0 and reboot the computer, and check that Auto Updates have been enabled.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU]
"NoAutoUpdate"=dword:00000000

1 disables Auto Updates and 0 re-enables it.
