Update wont Update

Every evening durring the powering down of my XP based PC, I get the message
that updates will be installed. After 10 days in a row (now 20 plus days) I
realized something is wrong. Looking out on MS update a Power Point update is
ready but it just wont update. I removed the update from the list but still
my nightly uipdate adds in this update that will not update.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

thx ;-)

Would you please post the KB number of the PowerPoint update that will
not install. Thanks !

IF the installation file for the Powerpoint *Viewer* was deleted then
any subsequent updates for it will fail to install.
The PowerPoint Viewer is not the same as the PowerPoint program.

Sorry, it took me forever to respond.

I'll look to see if my Power Point is still there. It should be.

The KB not being downloaded is "Security Update for PowerPoint Viewer 2003
(KB969615)".

Going online to look at my updates, the update shows 0k

Security Update for PowerPoint Viewer 2003 (KB969615)
Download size: 0 KB , 0 minutes (Downloaded; ready to install)
A security vulnerability exists in Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer 2003 that
could allow arbitrary code to run when a maliciously modified document is
opened. This update resolves that vulnerability. Details...

IF the *installation* file for the Powerpoint Viewer was deleted then
any subsequent updates for it will fail to install.
You'll need to uninstall PPV 2003, download it again, *save it*, *move
it* to a location where it will *not* be deleted from, and then install
it again.

That's the only way subsequent Security updates for it will install, Lorena.
