Problem With MS Paint

M

Mark Wilson

We are running XP home. MS Paint works for all of our
users except 1. When that user starts paint it crashes
immediately (not even a splash windown) with a popup that
says the following.

"Paint has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenience." It offers to send a
message to Microsoft

Any ideas??

.Does this user have the necessary authority/permission?
Also, send in the error message and let Microsoft work on
it.

Hi Mark,

While logged on as that user, close any/all instances of MSPaint. Then
start/run regedit, navigate to this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Applets\Paint

Hightlight (click on it) that key and delete it. Close the registry editor
and reopen Paint.
