Hi!
My system: WinXP SP2
Problem:
IExplorer cannot browse any web page (unless it's a doc on my pc)
I get a "cannot display this page" message.
The same happens with Firefox
However:
1) I can PING everywhere both by numeric IP address and by name.
2) I can use MSmessenger
3) I can download mail through mail clients, such as Eudora
4) This problem started after I uninstalled ZoneAlarm antivirus (with
great efforts). I was one of the lucky guys for which a (corrupted?)
ZA file did cause huge delay at startup (15/20 minutes) and a large
use of CPU resources.
If not for this problem my PC is now running fine (good startup time,
fast enough, etc.)
From what I found on the Net I suspect it's a winsock problem (maybe
not?).
What I tried:
1) LSPFix was ran but only had the three normal things listed and it
said "no problem found".
2) WinsockXPFix was ran but didn't fix anything.
3) Did "netsh winsock reset" and other netsh related commands
4) I ran Spybot but it found a clean PC
5) I cannot remember what else I tried but for sure most of what I
found on the Net
What else should I do?
Thanks, Maurizio
