Printer and Scanner Problems

After loading Windows XP Pro I am unable to use printer.
It is a Lexmark 3200 printer. The power is on and I
recieve error message "Out of Paper". I installed latest
driver and still getting same message.

Also I can't get my scanner to work. It is a Mustek 600
III EP Plus.

Help, please?

Are you trying to connect both a parallel port scanner AND a parallel port
printer by the piggy back method? That is NOT supported in XP and you will
have to change one or both to a USB connection.

Oh my, I am 64 year old female and new to Internet. I
feel like a pro just finding this site and how to post. I
will have to call in my little brother (he has mucho
sisters to keep up with)and relay your suggestion. I

What they describe does apply to how you're trying to set
up your printer
and scanner.

However, you have tried to setup the printer without
having the scanner attached and still have not been able
to get it to work. (He was surprised I thought to try
switching the cables to try printer alone.)

Would mention that to them.
