Pricelessware: F-Prot Signature Files (Susan Burgher?)

J

Jim Butterfield

I wonder if it would be useful to add a link to the F-Prot entry:
http://www.f-prot.com/download/
.. since the present link downloads a program which is not
necesarily updated, and the download path might take beginners a
little casting about.

As a matter of information: current signature files, available in the
download area, are dated January 19, 2004; the F-Prot download is
correctely noted in the Pricelessware page as 2003-10-08. Updating
isn't automatic in F-Prot; you have to go looking for the files.

Btw, ISTR a while back that you had given up on the updater -- or was
that Bob Green? Or both of you?

It was quite awhile back that I abandoned my former updater design
because there were two FTP site changes within a short period of time
that required significant modifications. I had then said to myself "to
hell with it" :) But awhile later I felt refreshed and decided to come
up with a whole new design. That newer design has been up at my web
site for quite some time now in two different forms.

Dunno what's happened to my 'ol buddy Bob Green. He seems to have left
the scene and I haven't tried to contact him lately. He did have a
"new" updater design put up somewhere not all that many months ago. I
do know that he wanted to concentrate more on shareware rather than
supplying freebies.
In any case, it's good that you are doing this. Thanks, Art.

Good to hear that :)

Hi Jim,

Noted - I'll see about revising the description soon . . .
taking a little time off for other things . . . :)
